Review for OMG! The Top 50 Incidents in WWE History

I love making lists. Whether it is top ten films or top ten biscuits, I love to do them. I have one rule: Only Top Tens. I find that once you say top twenty five or fifty, you start adding things that really don't belong in the list. This is my problem with OMG! The Top 50 Incidents in WWE History.

First up, it doesn't really explain how the list was compiled and what a OMG moment actually is. Many are not so much OMG as HWTDOH or Huh? What's That Doing On Here? These include McMahon's Kiss My Ass Club, Funeral for Big Show's Father, Tim White attempting to commit suicide, Eric Bischoff as Raw GM and Paul Bearer being buried oin concrete. None of these are moments that I would particularly want to remember and are certainly not positive ones. The fact that one of them is in the Top Ten is baffling.

If WWE are going this route of just including any shocking moment surely the death of Owen Hart would be in here too? Though I'm glad that someone in the WWE saw sense to not do this... though saying that due to the fact that they can't use anything to do with Owen without the permission of his family it wouldn't surprise me if they had considered it.

However, the positive OMG moments do outweigh the negatives with the usual showing of Dx invading WCW, Edge cashing in the Money in the Bank, Big Show and Brock Lesnar breaking the ring, Sable's unique bikini, Montreal and of course Stone Cold's first stunner on McMahon. Many of these moments are iconic in the WWE and it doesn't matter how many times I see Undertaker throw Mankind off the Hell in a Cell it still sends a chill through me.

Looking at the Top Ten (apart from the one that doesn't belong on the disk at all) they could have made a good documentary focusing for 15-20 minutes on each of them. Instead each one is buzzed over so fast that you are none the wiser as to what their significance actually was. It is difficult to explain why WWE buying WCW was so important in a few minutes or why Stone Cold giving McMahon a stunner was so important.

I'm sure that some things were missing from the list, many like the whole Katie Vick incident that should never be remembered. The only two absences from the set in terms of being OMG or indeed most significant are The Ultimate Warror's shock defeat of the Honktonk Man at Summerslam 1988 and Stone Cold's Austin 3:16 speech.

Extras are a mix of vignettes of the moment happening and matches. It is odd that they would include them in this way and surely it would have made sense to include them as they were going through the list. Included is Shawn Michaels throwing Marty Janetty through the Barbershop window, Stone Cold's first stunner to McMahon, beerbath and also Kurt Angle's milk bath. There is also a great segment featuring Trish Stratus and Lita. The ten matches are fine, though why they included the awful and unwatchable Undertaker/Dudley Boyz Concrete Crypt match is beyond me. However, the set more than makes up for it with the inclusion of the full Mankind/Undertaker Hell in a Cell match.

OMG! The Top 50 Incidents in WWE History is not perfect, but certainly not one I would dismiss as awful. It's not that I didn't enjoy it all, I just feel that if they had reduced it down to ten or twenty five and given us more indepth look into they were OMG then it would be a lot more satisfying and a lot less WTF?
