Review for UFC 125 - Resolution
The more I watch UFC, the more I seem to become desensitised to it. Almost like watching horror films until the sight of someone being gutted like a fish has no effect on you. I find that with UFC, unless it is a mega match up or some great performers, I just feel like I am watching the same thing over and over again.
UFC 125: Resolution suffers from not having much to write about, apart from one or two fights. Now I will say that the main event that pits Frankie Maynard against Gray Maynard is awesome and everything that you want from a main event. The fight was just that a fight as you could not tell who was going to win from one round to the next and both fighters had some great offence in there. But apart from this match the rest of the ten fights felt a little repetitive to me.
Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stevens was a great fight that should really have been in the main card and I will not be surprised if we see these two in UFC events further down the line. Clay Guida vs. Takanori Gomi was also an astounding matchup that has an ending that I simply did not see coming. The rest of the event? As I say were all just hit and miss with the other main match between Chris Leben and Brian Stann over before I even had a chance to sit down. There's a part of me that hates when fights end like this and though I understand they have to for the safety of the fighters it just makes me feel like I've been cheated out of a great ending.
As with all UFC events it includes all eleven fights in full from the preliminary and main card and also includes bonus features that cover the weigh ins, fighter interviews and also a look behind the scenes of the show. However, like all the UFC DVDs unless the match is groundbreaking (which there are none here) or involve a fighter that has a huge fan base (again I only recognised a few names and even had to look up who was in the main event) then it's doubtful as to whether you will watch it.
UFC 125: Resolution is a good PPV if you are obsessed with MMA and just want to watch fighting. If you want to watch some fights that you'll be talking about for years to come then my resolution to you would be to avoid this disk.
