Review of Ski Movie
Introduction
In a similar vein to New World Disorder reviewed elsewhere, this film is madness on snow. So the main difference is that the medical aid takes longer to arrive and the participants are freezing when it does.
Sharing the same basic ingredients as it`s cousin, Ski Movie combines short featurettes of mad people on skis and ski mobiles doing things that really aren`t sane. This is all set to a soundtrack of popular beat combos that appeal to the young of today. Easy.
Think back to that first ski holiday when on the first day you`re standing in a class with 12 year olds who are picking things up quicker than you, and your elation at completing the simplest run by the end of the week. These people are sking off the top of mountains and onto roads. They are your worst nightmare and the fastest ticket to plastercast city when you try to emulate them to impress the 2 Swedish students you met the night before.
Video
Another excellent production from MSP that is full of colours that are a joy to watch. The locations of course help, but they are captured with superb clarity. The snow is WHITE and set against the clear blue sky it makes you want to dive for the travel agents.
Audio
A Dolby Surround track that like New World Disorder really sets the video off well. Nothing more needs to be said other than turn it up.
Features
A couple of previews is all that graces this title in the way of extras.
Conclusion
An enjoyable film but one that is again directed at a very specific audience. It is fun to watch from a non skiers point of view but maybe not more than once or twice.
The music is good and I have several Napster searches on hand at this very minute, just for evaluation purposes of course.
For ski buffs it`s a must, otherwise it`s a rental for an evening of background entertainment.
