Review for Bruce Lee: The Immortal Dragon

Bruce Lee: The Immortal Dragon can't really be looked at as one documentary, but as a series of looks into Lee's life. The main documentary is a concise look at his life from birth to death and shows all the highs and lows in-between. This is a great documentary and if this had just been all that there was it still would have been fine (if a little short). However, along with this we have a number of documentaries that look at the Bruce Lee family, screen tests, outtakes and trailers from The Green Hornet series some information about Lee, his family and his friends and co-workers in film and martial arts, a look at the Batman/Green Hornet script and also an in-depth look into Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.
Now it is true, that I wish some of this was not just text to read, which can be a little dull on a DVD, but some of the information on there was fascinating to read. The mixture of text and film throughout is an interesting way to document someone rather than hours and hours of video footage and unseen footage and outtakes from the unseen footage. This allows you to really take on board the information more.
I found this DVD to be a wonderfully dense analysis of all aspects of Bruce Lee's life and though I would have liked maybe a little more of a look at his motion pictures, the archive footage, the documentaries and the text more than makes up for it. This is a must have for all Bruce Lee fans!
