Only a Blackberry fanatic would understand this!
I had a Blackberry for 18 months so I thought I might have the necessary expertise to review this book.
I have to confess that despite the cover, which I found attractive enough for me to pick up and look inside, I couldn't really work out what this book was for. Perhaps a stocking filler for a friend that was addicted to this mobile phone. As the title itself was a dig at the owners of a Blackberry I felt got at!
I liked the idea of different forms of Backberry (Jam, crumble etc) and the quotations or graphics that began each section, but I had to work hard to make the connections between the text and the Blackberry form..
The best advice came at the end 'so how should we live with our Blackberry's?' to which the response was 'turn it off at the end of the day.'
As I found using my Blackberry tiring on my eyes, so I found this book had similar characteristics.
The use of centre justification for many whole pages made for uncomfortable reading. The pages with tips had a sidebar and were much easier to read, particularly when longer sentences were employed. Although often I found the paragraphs too long without a two line break to rest the eyes.
I haven't put any of the text through the 'Fogg Index' of readability but I expect that it would show that this book is beyond the easy comprehension of the average reader. But then the Blackberry Fool fits well into this category!
