Mamma Mia! movie star and boy band Blue to support Samaritans this Sunday at Soccer Six
Stars show their support for the emotional support charity at football match
Dominic Cooper, star of 'Mamma Mia! The Movie', together with Lee Ryan, Simon Webbe and Anthony Costa from newly-reformed boy band Blue will be demonstrating their football skills and challenging fellow celebrities, comedians, and ex-professional footballers in a tournament to win the 2009 Samaritans' Soccer Six trophy. The event is taking place this Sunday, 24th May, at Chelsea Football Club.
Samaritans is Soccer Six's charity of the year for the fifth year running and proceeds from ticket sales and celebrity donations will be given to the emotional support charity to ensure that Samaritans' service remains available 24 hours a day to support anyone in emotional distress.
Other celebrities announced today to take part on Sunday include actress Jamie Winstone, actor Nick Moran, Steve Norman from 80s band Spandau Ballet, and the cast of top-rated TV show The Inbetweeners. They will face competition from teams made up of band members from music groups including JLS, The Hoosiers, The Enemy, Babyshambles, and NDUBZ. Other celebrities swapping the red carpet for grassy turfs to support Samaritans will be actor Danny Dyer, X Factor finalists Austin Drage and Diana Vickers, models Charlotte Mears and Nicola McLean, former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton andstars from hit TV shows Skins, Shameless, Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks. Comedians Omid Djalili, Russell Howard, Milton Jones and Lee Mack will also be taking part.
Samaritans' Claire Duncan said: "It's fantastic that Dominic Cooper and Blue are amongst the 150 celebrities now confirmed to support Samaritans on Sunday at this year's Soccer Six.
