Review of Vegas Baby
Introduction
Ok, I'll be brutally honest. I didn't have high hopes for this film. It was never going to be Oscar material or some Nouvelle Vague directed classic. But I was looking out for a few laughs at least.
You can work out most of the story here. Five guys head to Vegas for a Bachelor Party (or Stag Night in the Queen's English). Expect drinking, girls, gambling and more as they have the weekend of their life...or that's what they hope at least.
Video
1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer that does exactly what it says on the tin. There's no award-winning cinematography here, just the flashy trashy lights (and associated fleshy sights) of Vegas.
Audio
A DD5.1 soundtrack, which again offers no surprises.
Extra Features
Just a pointless behind the scenes feature (15 minutes of back-slapping nonsense with some poorly framed video sequences) and a trailer. Neither warrant your attention.
Conclusion
Like I said earlier, I didn't have high hopes for this film. And even those very low expectations were not met.
This is an utter pile of garbage. It's not funny, it's stereotypical, it's tedious. Did I say it's not funny? Just in case I didn't, it's not funny.
Maybe a horny 13-year old might be interested in the film for obvious reasons, but it has little else to recommend it to those of us more in control of our hormones.
And it has far too many cheese-stuffed all-American sentiment moments to be good.
So don't buy this, don't rent it, don't even go near it. I think I'll use this DVD to scare birds off the seedlings in the garden. Shame that PR companies don't send out DVD-RWs then I could record an episode of Doctor Who over it or something...
