Review of REM: This Film Is On

8 / 10

Introduction

This Film Is On features a collection of music videos, live performances and short films featuring songs from probably REM`s best album to date Out of Time. Only "Texarkana" and "Me in Honey" are missing.

There are also 2 bonuses here. The first is a performance of "Love is all Around" from their unreleased appearance on MTV Unplugged in 1991. This is also a bonus for another reason, as Mike Mills takes a rare turn at being lead vocalist. There is also an acoustic performance of "Losing my Religion" recorded at the BBC.

Video

Video here is all standard 4:3 and is very good quality. No artefacts to be found and everything looks good. One slight exception is the MTV performance which has the NTSC conversion look about it.

Audio

The audio is presented in PCM stereo and sounds excellent. Another DVD to be played loud.

Features

No extra features here. Nice again to see subtitles included for all tracks, in case you get confused by any of Michael Stipe`s lyrics.

Conclusion

Another excellent collection of audio and video from REM. The songs are some of their best, and the videos and short films are typical REM and very interesting.

Another must for fans, but perhaps not as good value as the other REM DVDs available at this time as you only get 50 minutes for your money.
